Pupil Premium funding is provided to schools in addition to main school funding. It is allocated according to three categories of pupils- the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM), a smaller amount according to the number of children of service families, and an allocation for each pupil who has been ‘Looked After’ (in care) for 6 months or more. It also includes pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever6 measure). Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we are required to publish online information about how we have used the funding. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the extra support that pupils covered by the Premium will receive.
For the financial year 2016–2017, the pupil premium funding that schools received is:
- FSM: £1320 per primary pupil
- Looked After children: £1900 per pupil
- Service children: £300 per pupil
We are in the process of writing our Pupil Premium Strategy for 2016-2017.
